VINTAGE HERITAGE JOINS MADRAS WEEK CELEBRATIONS

A clipping from ‘Sabash Meena' (1958) featuring actors Sivaji Ganesan and a Madras Tamil-speaking Chandrababu evoked a spontaneous round of applause from the audience at the presentation on Madras as depicted in Tamil films and ‘Madras Tamil' captured in the films, organised by Vintage Heritage here on Monday. The programme was organised as part of Madras Week celebrations.

A Night at the Opera is a 1935 American comedy film starring Groucho Marx, Chico Marx and Harpo Marx, and featuring Kitty Carlisle, Allan Jones,Margaret Dumont, Sig Ruman, and Walter Woolf King. It was the first film the Marx Brothers made for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer after their departure fromParamount Pictures, and the first after Zeppo left the act. The film was adapted by George S. Kaufman, Morrie Ryskind, Al Boasberg (uncredited), andBuster Keaton (uncredited) from a story by James Kevin McGuinness. It was directed by Sam Wood.
