VINTAGE HERITAGE JOINS MADRAS WEEK CELEBRATIONS

A clipping from ‘Sabash Meena' (1958) featuring actors Sivaji Ganesan and a Madras Tamil-speaking Chandrababu evoked a spontaneous round of applause from the audience at the presentation on Madras as depicted in Tamil films and ‘Madras Tamil' captured in the films, organised by Vintage Heritage here on Monday. The programme was organised as part of Madras Week celebrations.

It was the first film the Marx Brothers made for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer after their departure fromParamount Pictures, and the first after Zeppo left the act. The film was adapted by George S. Kaufman, Morrie Ryskind, Al Boasberg (uncredited), andBuster Keaton (uncredited) from a story by James Kevin McGuinness. It was directed by Sam Wood.

July 2011 Programme - Illara Jothi

The Programme for the month of July 2011 was held as scheduled at 6.30 p.m. on 31st July at the Vivekananda Hall, P.S. Senior Secondary School Campus, Ramakrishna Math Road, Mylapore, Chennai-4. Shri Raagapravaham K. Sundar introduced the film. Shri Sarveswaran, Secretary, made an announcement that the next programme may feature a hollywood classic and there may be a change in the venue.

19th anniversary on 19th June 2011

The 19th Anniversary celebration of Vintage Heritage was held on 19.06.2011 at the Vivekananda Hall, P.S. High School Campus, Mylapore, Chennai. The focus of the programme was Nadigar Thilagamum Naattiya Paeroliyum, presented in the form of video clippings featuring Sivaji Ganesan and Padmini, with a running analysis and describtion by Sri K. Sundar. The concept and production was made by Sri Sarveswaran, Secretary of Vintage Heritage. The list of songs played are given below in Tamil:
